Learn aspects of how both human hands and prosthetic hands work as you create a model articulating hand.
In this project participants can:
- Learn aspects of the structure and biomechanics of the human hand and forearm by creating a simple working model.
- Simulate the engineering and design challenges in developing a prosthetic hand.
- Pariticpate in an activity that fosters empathy towards those with physical differences.
Wwe have modified this activity to make it work efficiently for distance learning.
We would like to thanks the volunteers from the Stanford Hill Chapter of National Charity League for helping us to develop this activity. We would like to credit Catherine Harkness Lemat, Avery Olsen and Meagan Wilson from Ohlone Elementary School for helping us improve this activity so that it works well for distance learning.
