Inclusive Play Zone Design Activity
This activity combines applied math with learning about how to design a playground zone that can be fun for everyone.
Get ready to crunch some numbers in this simulation when you come up with a proposed design for a playground zone that can be fun for everyone. With a limited budget to work with, you will select equipment, materials and a design for your play zone.
There’s lots of opportunities to apply your emerging math skills:
- Add up costs of your zone’s equipment.
- Apply what you know about area and perimeter.
- Or, if you are ready, you can even do volume calculations for your concrete installations.
- Total up your costs of your so your project fits within your budget.
- This activity can align to Common Core Math Standards for Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7
Note: We are still beta testing and improving this activity. Please contact us if you work with a group of students that would enjoy helping us improve this activity.
